August Presidents Letter

Hello MOMS Club® of Uwchlan Hills PA,

July has been a scorcher – hopefully you had fun with the kiddos keeping cool!

We had a few actives that included the KG class of 2016/2017 meeting up at the UH playground, a movie night, a Kerr Park morning outing and a MNO at Brickside Grille. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves and be on the lookout for some fun happenings in August!

Speaking of activities, AO with impending baby #3 and two very active little ones she feels that the role of Activity Committee might be a bit much (totally understandable!). She has graciously agreed to finish out the summer but would anyone be interested in taking on the Activity Chair role come September? Please let me know!

I have signed us up to participate in the Whiteland Towne Center Bucks program. I figured since we are already shopping there for back to school (wow, where did the summer go!) why not make a few easy bucks, ha! We have participated in previous years but here’s the skinny:

Each time you shop at ANY of the Whiteland Towne Center stores between Aug. 1^st through Nov. 4th, 2016 save your ORIGINAL receipt and drop it off at my house (I will have a box by my front door). We will receive 5% of total receipts collected (with a maximum award of $250). In addition, the group collecting the most receipts will receive $1000, 2nd place will receive $500 and 3rd place will receive $250. The only other thing we have to do is choose a date for our Bonus Day. This Bonus Day is where we are credited with Double Bucks! Any ideas on what we should set as that date? Suggestions welcome and let’s get shopping!

July Presidents Letter

Hello MOMS Club® of Uwchlan Hills PA,

I hope you all had a wonderful 4^th of July and got to see some fireworks before the rain set in! I am incredibly excited to be taking on the Presidency role of our club. A big thank you to the past board, committee members and volunteers; the incoming boards got some pretty big shoes to fill! Speaking of the incoming board here is the who’s who:

·         President: Me, yeah!

·         Helping Hands: AEC

On Sunday, amidst the 4^th celebrations, family gatherings and a 70^th birthday bash I looked around and felt so thankful for my family. But equally important as the family we are born/marry into is the family we build ourselves. Having lived in Seattle for a few years I can attest to the fact that how good friends truly do become your family and how vitally important they are. Having returned to PA a few years ago I am a bit closer to family again but I have been missing that friend family and I am especially excited to create that with all of you! So a bit more insight into me, I love little quotes and sayings and I thought this one was especially fitting:

“The language of friendship is not words but meanings.” - Henry David Thoreau

Together, let’s make it an amazing, meaningful year!

June President's Letter

Hello MOMS Club® of Uwchlan Hills PA,

It’s the end of another fun year with the MOMS Club and a great year for our grown up kids at Uwchlan Hills Elementary. We want to thank our dedicated board members for their service in the club and look forward to welcoming a new group. We still have some openings: President, Administrative Vice President, Treasurer, Party Committee, and Play Group leaders for Fall 2018 and Fall 2020. Please consider serving!

Thank you to AP, AJ, AE, TT, JH, CL, and SK for signing up for various roles! They will be taking over starting in July.

As the year comes to a close, we will have our traditional end of year pizza party. Be on the lookout for that information from J nd K. We will also have our final morning coffee club meeting next week. We will be deciding how to donate any unused funds in our account and wrapping up end of year items.

Thank you for a great year – it’s been wonderful having playdates, morning coffees, parties and most importantly friends!

May President's Letter

Hello MOMS Club® of Uwchlan Hills PA,

 Welcome to May! I’m sure we’ll all be happy to put the April snow behind us. Who could have predicted that there would have been SNOW during our Spring Fling? Thank you to J and K for putting it together – and to J for opening up her home when the wind and the snow tried to put a damper on things.

 We enjoyed our morning coffee meeting at Julie’s Creperie. It was great to catch up with A, S, A, J, and D. We had some discussion about the current playgroups. It is apparent that we need to organize the younger groups better.

I have posted the playgroups on our Facebook account. We need playgroup leaders for the younger ages. This coming year we’d like to invite everyone to meet with their respective age groups. If you are currently part of a different group because your group doesn’t meet, consider signing up as the group leader to see if you can get your playgroup started. It really is a great benefit to the kids when they start school.  

C also deserves a shout out for putting together a great Mom’s Night Out. A good group of ladies met up for dinner and a much needed chat. Be on the lookout for our MNO in May.

Finally, please start considering how you’d like to volunteer in our club next year. Thank you to A for signing on in our Helping Hands committee and to J for signing on with the Welcoming committee. We will need the following positions: President, Administrative Vice President, Membership Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Helping Hands Committee, Party Committee, Activity Committee, Mom’s Night Out Committee, and Welcome Committee.  New leadership takes over in June.

April Newsletter

Hello MOMS Club® of Uwchlan Hills, PA,

April is a fun time in the club. Our play groups are in the groove and warmer weather heralds impromptu park play dates. Feel free to post online, text friends, and send group emails when you head outdoors with your little ones. Everybody loves company while they’re pushing a swing!

Things were pretty quiet in March. Thank you to S for hosting our morning coffee. We were able to meet new member J H and her sweet little guy L. In April we will be having our morning coffee meeting at Julie’s Creperie. Our last morning coffee outing to the Coffee Cup in Downingtown was really fun, so join us for a good time.

In the way of Club business, there is a conference and luncheon for our region of the International MOMS Club® coming up. The conference is on April 9^th at the Hanover Marriott in Whippany, NJ. Please contact me for more information if you are interested in going.

Our Spring Fling Party will be on April. A BIG thank you to our party committee for working hard to plan a great club party.

A O is still putting together a MOMS Club cookbook.  Please get your most loved recipes to share with everyone. We’re all basic cooks like you, so it doesn’t have to be anything over the top. Thank you A!

Keep your eyes out for a Mom’s Night Out event posted to the Facebook page. Thank you C for setting that up.

March President's Letter

Hello MOMS Club® of Uwchlan Hills, PA,

Spring is in the air, I can feel it! Come on spring!

We had a great Morning Coffee at my house last week. It was fun to catch up with old friends and get to know new friends: D and her son Z joined us for their first MOMS Club event. It was also a first for A's tiny bundle of love – M. It was so fun to see a newborn; I forget how tiny they are.  

Speaking of bundles of joy, we want to congratulate K S on the birth of her baby girl in February. The little one’s name is C and her pictures are beautiful.

In the way of Club business, the annual regional MOMS Club conference and luncheon is coming up. I don’t know that anyone from our chapter has ever attended, but if you are interested all are welcome to participate. I have more information if you are interested in going.

SAVE THE DATE! Our party committee has been putting together a Spring Fling Party. We’re holding it in April in hopes for the best outdoor weather.

AO is still putting together a MOMS Club cookbook. It’s not too late to send her your most awesome recipes to share with everyone. Thank you A.

We’d love to have you host Morning Coffee for March. Please let me know if you are able to open your home to us.

February President's Letter

Hello MOMS Club® of Uwchlan Hills, PA,

We’ve got one major snowstorm under our belts, and I don’t know about you but I’m hoping it’s the only one! Many thanks to CZ, our Mom’s Night Out committee chair, for organizing the Women’s Self Defense class. The turnout was great and the class was excellent on all accounts. We’re grateful as well to AC for hosting our January morning coffee. The kids had a great time visiting, and the moms enjoyed the conversation.

Playgroups are in full swing, many thanks to our playgroup gurus for their coordinating efforts. Thank you for putting the events on the Facebook page, this allows newer members to find their playgroups more easily.

Speaking of new members, we have two new Moms to welcome this month: D and J. D and her husband C have a two year old son Z. They live at DE, so please reach out to welcome them. We also want to welcome J and her husband J with their son L who is 11 months old. They live at WD. Please invite them to playgroups and introduce yourself.

We also want to congratulate AJ on the birth of her baby girl M. Hooray! Thank you to those who volunteered to take a meal to the family.

This month AO is kicking off a great MOMS Club project: a cookbook! I’m super excited to see everyone’s tried & true favorite dishes. I know you ladies are awesome cooks so share your secrets! Please get recipes turned in to A by Feburary 26^th so she can put together the formatting for the book. Thank you A.

Morning Coffee for February will be on the 25^th at my house. If you would like to host an activity, craft, play date, or meet up please feel free to add it to our Facebook calendar and email it to the group.

Also, in the near future we’ll be looking to switch up our board and committee chairs. Please start considering how you’d like to volunteer in our club next year.
